The term “Doxil chemotherapy” has garnered its name from the trade name of a drug doxorubicin liposomal. This drug is highly effective for eradicating cancer. Doxil chemotherapy uses this drug in its treatment procedure very successfully and has garnered enough fame in this specific field. Ovarian cancer, breast cancer and tumors can be treated effectively with this chemotherapy. The drugs that are used in this therapy are infused into the body a patient through a vein. As Doxil is an irritant which can swell the vein if it is not handled properly, one needs to treat this drug carefully. When a cancer patient is receiving Doxil chemotherapy, the amount of drug that will be used in this purpose is dependent on a patient’s health and height. Doxil chemotherapy has some side effects that are known as infusion related side effects. Facing problem in breathing, feeling tightness in chest and inflammation in face are some of the infusion related side effects. These side effects generally not occur when a patient is treated with a low doze of medication and usually these side effects terminate within a few weeks after the completion of infusion of drug. Very few cancer patients have to face this kind of side effects. Doxil chemotherapy can also reduce the production of red blood cells and white blood cells at the same time. Low level of red blood cells in blood can lead to anemia and low level of white blood cells in blood leads to weak immunity system which in turn can bring infection.
