BEP Chemotherapy
BEP chemotherapy: A better treatment for ovarian cancer or testicular cancer
Ovarian cancer or testicular cancer can be treated successfully by BEP chemotherapy. Etoposide, cisplatin and bleomycin are the drugs that are used in this chemotherapy to help a person to get rid of the aforementioned types of cancer. A cancer patient doesn’t have to spend a lot of time in a hospital for being treated by this chemotherapy. The report of the blood test plays a vital role in this type of chemotherapy. The blood test must display a positive indication otherwise a cancer patient will not be treated by this chemotherapy.
At the initial stage of BEP chemotherapy, the aforementioned drugs are infused in the blood of a patient through a thin and elastic tube. This is not a painful treatment and doesn’t take a long time. If a patient is anxious or curious about this treatment, he can consult with his doctor or nurse to get a fair idea about this chemotherapy treatment. As chemotherapy treatment some times generates sickness, the practitioners use to apply anti-sickness drugs. These anti-sickness drugs can be taken through an injection syringe and they are also available in pills. A patient is provided with plenty of liquid before and after chemotherapy treatment so that his kidneys are not damaged.
The whole process of chemotherapy is divided into some phases. Each phase has to generate desired result so that a patient can further his treatment without any interruption. At the very initial stage a patient is given cisplatin and etoposide. Cisplatin, bleomycin and bleomycin are applied on the next day. Etoposide is given on the third day. After that a patient gets a repose time of one week. BEP chemotherapy is maneuvered in a cyclic process which means that here a treatment period is replaced by repose period and vice versa. As the drugs that are used in this chemotherapy destroy the cancer cells in a patient, this repose period will certainly give him a chance to reproduce some healthy cells that can make up the destruction.
BEP chemotherapy obviously helps a cancer patient by providing a scintillating treatment but at the same time it can generate some dangerous side effects. But all the patients who have been treated by this chemotherapy don’t have identical side effects. This may vary depending upon the doze of drug and type of treatment that has been applied on a particular cancer patient. The white blood cells which are responsible for the defense system of our body can be affected by this chemotherapy. So it is evident that one can lose his immunity system if this thing continues. Though it is not a permanent disease, it can certainly lure other diseases by incapacitating the immunity system of a body. Within ten to fourteen days, a patient can attain a normal level of white blood cells in his blood.
There are other side effects too that can also jeopardize the life a cancer patient. Anemia, hair loss, loss of appetite and nausea are some of the side effects of BEP chemotherapy. Sores in the mouth and changes in taste can also be occurred in BEP chemotherapy. But despite of these side effects, this treatment can be reckoned as the most effective treatment to cure a cancer patient.
